A New Look for a New Year

About Me

A New Look for a New Year

Seven months ago, my sister married the love of her life in an intimate, church ceremony. I was so excited when she asked me to be the matron of honor at her wedding. Because I wanted to wear my hair in an elegant French twist at the wedding, I didn’t cut it during the first half of last year. After the wedding, I planned to cut my hair in my usual bob style. However, after receiving many compliments for my longer hair, I decided to let it continue to grow out. I’m not sure what I want to do with my hair for the New Year. However, I know I want to continue experimenting with new, exciting looks. On this blog, I hope you will discover the best hair trends for the upcoming year. Enjoy!

Sustainable Summer Weight Loss Plans

Whether you're looking to shed a few pounds to look better in your bathing suit this summer or you're looking to lose weight to feel healthier, it can be overwhelming to choose from the many weight loss programs available to you. Many women are finding weight loss success by joining programs offered by their favorite salon or spa.

When you're considering a plan offered by your salon or spa, you should keep the following weight loss strategies in mind to help you drop the weight sustainably.

Body Composition

Weight loss often seems like an objective pursuit. You hop on the scale and can immediately quantify your weight loss success. This is one of the reasons why many women find early and temporary weight loss successes. Most of the easiest weight you can lose is water weight. Thus, when you exercise more frequently than normal, which causes you to sweat more than you're used to, you can lose several pounds very quickly. Some of the best spa weight loss programs help their clients target weight loss by body composition.

Body Composition: Designing a weight loss program based on body composition begins with a body composition analysis. The most accurate method is a dual-emission X-ray absorptiometry scan (DXA). This painless procedure will help you accurately gauge fat, water, and muscle mass ratios. Once your weight loss specialist has this figure, they can design a weight loss plan that suited to your weight loss goals. For instance, if you want to increase your muscle mass and lose weight, your weight loss specialist might design a dietary and exercise plan to stimulate muscle growth. This approach to weight loss is more sustainable because it is specifically designed for your body composition and weight loss goals.

Non–Weight Loss Goals

Losing weight sustainably is often less about what you eat and more about adopting a healthier lifestyle. This healthier lifestyle is often achieved by setting goals that have nothing to do with losing weight.

Competitive Goal: Setting the goal of completing your first 5k, triathlon, or 100-mile bike ride can help you add to a competitive element that motivates you to get through the toughest parts of your new lifestyle. Furthermore, a competitive pursuit can help you forge friendships that will help you feel supported throughout the process. Many spas have partnerships with local gyms or training groups that can help you set a competitive goal.

Relax the Weight Off

Stress can lead to several negative health outcomes, including weight gain, hypertension, and depression. One of the benefits of pursuing a weight loss goal through your local spa is that they offer a refuge from stress.

Massage: Whether you want to book a sports massage to help you recover from your workouts or you want a relaxing massage to help you cope with a stressful week at work, your spa gives you access to massage specialist who can help you achieve the relaxation you need to help you stay positive when your pursuing your weight loss goals and aspirations.

Accountability

Losing weight sustainably isn't easy. You should be wary of anyone who tells you otherwise. Your spa can help you help yourself through the weight loss process by holding you accountable for your weight loss goals.

Community: Many women find success by joining weight loss groups at their local spa. These groups meet regularly to exercise, learn dietary strategies, and help you feel a sense of community. When you're assessing a spa's weight loss program, you might ask them about how often their weight loss groups meet and for data about the most recent weight loss groups hosted by the spa.
