A New Look for a New Year

About Me

A New Look for a New Year

Seven months ago, my sister married the love of her life in an intimate, church ceremony. I was so excited when she asked me to be the matron of honor at her wedding. Because I wanted to wear my hair in an elegant French twist at the wedding, I didn’t cut it during the first half of last year. After the wedding, I planned to cut my hair in my usual bob style. However, after receiving many compliments for my longer hair, I decided to let it continue to grow out. I’m not sure what I want to do with my hair for the New Year. However, I know I want to continue experimenting with new, exciting looks. On this blog, I hope you will discover the best hair trends for the upcoming year. Enjoy!

When Are Hair Extensions A Good Option?

Many people assume that hair extensions are just for actors who need to look like they have longer hair for a certain role — or that they are just for people with short hair who would like it to look longer. Indeed, hair extensions can work really well in these situations. However, there are some other, more surprising situations in which extensions can be a great choice. Take a look.

When You Want to Add Volume

Not all extensions have to make your hair appear longer than it really is. Extensions can also just add body and volume to your hair. Tape-in extensions are really helpful for this purpose. They use a special kind of tape to secure the extensions between the layers of your hair. They add an extra layer to your hair — or two extra layers if you use two sets of tape-in extensions. If you are someone with naturally thin or very straight hair and you want to create a bigger, more puffed-up style, extensions can save you from a lot of teasing and blow-drying that's not good for your natural hair.

When You Want to Add Color, But Not Permanently

Maybe you want to add a pop of color to your hair, but you don't want to go through the trouble or expense of having your natural hair dyed. Extensions can come in handy in this case. You can purchase some blonde, black, or even blue or purple extensions and add them to your hair. They'll accentuate your look and draw attention to your hairstyle without drying out your natural hair. You can even keep a few different colors on hand and switch colors as the mood strikes.

When You Want a Bigger, Bolder Updo

You don't have to leave your hair down with hair extensions. They can also be a good way to add volume and body to your updo. If you plan on having your hair put up for a wedding, prom, or another special event, then you may want to talk to your stylist about incorporating a few extensions. This will give them more hair to work with so that you can have a few more curls, braids, and embellishments.

Hair extensions are an incredibly versatile option for creating all sorts of fun hairstyles. Use extensions to add volume to a flat style, add a pop of color, or bump up your up-do.
